Dr. Jim Chirico

In August 2007 Dr. Chirico joined the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit as a Public Health Physician. Dr. Chirico assumed the role of Acting Medical Officer of Health as of January 1, 2009. He completed his Master of Public Health in 2009 and was appointed Medical Officer of Health in November of that year.

Prior to this, Dr. Chirico worked at the North Bay General Hospital in the Department of Anesthesia from 1994 until 2007. He has served as the Chief of the Anesthesia Department and as Medical Director of the Critical Care Unit.

Professional Boards and Committees:
Dr. Chirico has served on a number of Committees for the North Bay General Hospital including
the Critical Care Committee, Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Disaster Committee, and the
Anesthesia Audit Initiative.

Dr. Chirico has also participated in numerous health care leadership initiatives including Critical
Care Medical Leadership, Best Practice, and Medical Protocols.

Dr. Chirico is married to Marg and they have three children: Jake, Annie and Jamie.
